Fire kills 2 kids in Quezon province
LUCENA CITY — Two children died on Thursday when a fire razed their shack at a remote village in Plaridel town in Quezon province.
Police identified the victims as Reynan Dela Cruz, 4, and his younger brother Lorenzo, 1.
Local firemen rushed to the fire scene in the isolated part of the remote village of Tanauan at around 7:30 p.m. and found the victims burned.
The victim’s nipa hut is isolated and without immediate neighbors, investigators said.
Lorelie Esquibel, the victims’ mother, told investigators that she left her children alone to gather vegetables at 4:20 p.m.
