MANILA, Philippines — The chairperson of the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) resigned from her post on Friday as she accepted the offer to help in the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) as its undersecretary and officer-in-charge.
“I tendered my resignation as LTFRB Chairperson as I have accepted the offer to help in the Office of the Press Secretary as its Undersecretary and OIC,” said lawyer Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil in a statement.
“This is a great honor and privilege, and I thank the President for this opportunity to once again work with him in his administration to serve the Filipino people,” she added.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin also confirmed to reporters the appointment of Garafil to OPS.
On Tuesday, lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles quit as press secretary, citing health reasons.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had said he needs a press secretary who is “very experienced” in messaging and a “friend to the media.”
