Pagasa: Cloudy Friday with isolated rain showers

MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and scattered rain showers due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will prevail in the Visayas, Palawan, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi on Friday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa added in its early morning update, added that Metro Manila and the rest of the country can expect generally fair weather possible isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. 

“Makikita dito sa ating latest satellite images ang patuloy na pag-iral ng [ITCZ] sa bahagi ng Palawan, Visayas at Mindanao. At ngayong madaling araw, may na o-obserbahan tayong thunderstorm activity sa bahagi ng Zamboanga Peninsula at ilang bahagi ng Northern Mindanao,” said Pagasa weather forecaster Daniel James Villamil in the bureau’s morning weather forecast.

 (We can see in the latest satellite images that the ITCZ continues to prevail in Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao. As early as dawn, we can already observe thunderstorm activity over gthe Zamboanga Peninsula and other parts of Northern Mindanao).    

Flash floods and lamndslides are possible in areas affected by heavy rains, Pagasa warned.

No gale warning is in effect over any of the country’s seaboards.
