MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday recorded 2,562 new infections of COVID-19 on Thursday, raising the tally of active infections to 26,380.
This brought the total COVID-19 caseload to 3,961,341, with 3,871,820 recoveries and 63,149 deaths, based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker.
The number of new infections is also higher than the 2,288 recorded daily average infections from September 26 to October 2, and more so than the 1,764 infections recorded on Wednesday.
Metro Manila continues to lead the list of regions with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks with 13,582, followed by Calabarzon with 5,523 and Central Luzon with 2,886.
In terms of individual areas, Quezon City continues to lead with 3,385 infections, followed by Cavite with 1,880 and Rizal with 1,693.
Meanwhile, 17,748 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, and their results will be reflected in the tallied number of cases on Friday.
