MANILA, Philippines — The Senate finance subcommittee on Thursday approved the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) P4.4 billion and the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) P1.8 billion proposed budget for 2023.
During the same hearing, the panel also approved various allocations under the Special Purpose Fund.
“And I will move Mr. Chairman, that the budget of DBM, and other agencies we are deliberating today be deemed submitted for plenary action,” said Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva.
No objections were made, prompting the subcommittee head, Senator Sonny Angara, to approve the proposed 2023 budget. The two agencies’ budgets are now up for plenary discussions.
During the budget presentation, MMDA chair Carlo Dimayuga III vowed that the agency will “formulate, coordinate and regulate the implementation of medium and long term plans and programs for the delivery of metro-wide services, land use and physical development.”
Of the MMDA’s budget P2.6 billion will be allocated to maintenance and other operating expenses, P1.7 billion to capital outlay, and P70.3 million will be reserved for personal services.
Meanwhile, the majority of P1.7 billion of DBM’s budget will be allocated to the office of the Secretary, while 77.28 million will be allotted to the DBM’s attached agencies.
