2 ‘thieves’ nabbed in Olongapo City with help of bystanders

OLONGAPO CITY — Two alleged thieves were arrested in front of a bar along the national highway in Barangay Barretto here on Tuesday, Oct. 4, police said.

According to the investigators, the victim and his friend were having a drinking spree when the unnamed suspects on board a motorcycle suddenly grabbed and took the victim’s necklace.

The bystanders caught the suspects in the area after the victim’s friend prevented them from escaping until the patrolling policemen arrived.

During the body search, police recovered the necklace and seized a .38-caliber pistol, five live ammunition, and two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing alleged “shabu” (crystal meth) weighing 0.12 grams from the duo.

The suspects were detained and will face charges of robbery (snatching), illegally possessing firearms and ammunition, and violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
