According to a memorandum issued on Tuesday, the NTC has ordered its regional directors and officers-in-charge (OIC) to warn the public anew about text scams by appearing in news outlets.

“You are again directed to appear before different local radio and television stations within your respective jurisdictions at least ten (10) times to warn the public against the continuing text scams from 05 October 2022 to 11 October 2022,” said NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba in the memorandum.

Cordoba has also ordered major telecommunications companies Dito Telecommunity, Globe Telecoms, and Smart Communications to text blast this message to their subscribers:  Huwag pong maniwala sa text na naglalaman ng inyong pangalan na nag-aalok ng trabaho, pabuya, o pera. Ito po ay scam. I-report sa https://ntc.gov.ph.

(Do not believe texts containing your name and offering jobs, prizes, or money. These are scams. Report them to https://ntc.gov.ph).

Telcos are also ordered to continue blocking SIM cards that are being used for text scams. They are expected to submit a written compliance report to the NTC by October 14.
