BANGUED, Abra — First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos on Wednesday paid tribute to her fellow teachers as she graced the culmination of the National Teachers’ Day celebration in this town.
“To all the teachers out there, please know that we all recognize your hard work and all the sacrifices you have made to make the art of learning possible,” she said.
Araneta-Marcos addressed some 3,500 teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) who gathered at the Abra Sports Complex.
In her speech, Araneta-Marcos said she had been teaching for more than 25 years, adding that teaching is a “noble profession.”
Araneta-Marcos teaches law subjects at the West Visayas State University in La Paz, Iloilo City.
“You have ensured the quality of education for many Filipinos. We did this despite the many challenges that came your way, especially during the recent pandemic. For this, we are all grateful to you,” she added.
She called on all teachers to continue their “unwavering service and commitment to the Filipino youth.”
She added: “Remember to always keep the faith and hold your head up high. The country needs you.”
The event was led by Vice President and DepEd secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio. INQ
