MANILA, Philippines — The cost of damaged infrastructure in the wake of Typhoon Karding has now reached P304,245,310, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said Saturday.
This is significantly more than the cost of damage reported on Friday which was at P23,947,400.
According to the NDRRMC’s latest situation report, Karding battered parts of the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), the Bicol Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Forty-three total infrastructure were so far counted to have been damaged, majority of which were schools, while the rest were public roads and utility services facilities.
Meanwhile, the total number of affected individuals is now at 913,893, with 47,388 currently displaced by the typhoon.
The number of recorded deaths is still at 12 with five still missing.
The total damage to agriculture also reached P3,076,968,120, affecting 104,500 farmers and fisherfolk.
This is higher than the P2.95 billion damage estimate made by the Department of Agriculture as of Sept. 30.
