MAN SHOT DEAD IN MELEE

A 34-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead in a rumble between two groups in barangay San Isidro, Cebu City, early dawn yesterday.

Artemio Casipong of barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, succumbed to two gunshot wounds on his back.

Police identified Bernard as the one who shot Casipong. Bernard and his group fled after the melee.

Police said Casipong was drinking with his friends on E. Soriano Street when Bernard’s group arrived and for no apparent reason attacked Casipong.

Casipong’s friends fought back that triggered a melee.

Casipong was shot while the two groups were trading blows.

Bernard and his companions fled on foot when Casipong slumped on the ground.

Casipong was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, but he did not make it.

MAN KILLED IN ROAD ACCIDENT

A 26-YEAR-OLD man died in a motorcycle crash in barangay Sta. Lucia, Asturias town, southwest Cebu.

Ednald Realde died on the spot due to a severe head injury.

Police said Realde was driving home to barangay Macalbang around 12:10 a.m. yesterday.

Police said Realdo was negotiating curve road when he lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle swerved to the other lane before it rammed to a concrete fence.

The driver was thrown off the motorcycle and hit his head on the concrete fence.
