Carabao hacked, badly hurt in Bohol town

TAGBILARAN CITY — A carabao was severely injured after it was hacked by a still unidentified person in Carmen town, Bohol province.

Saturnino Alconera, 61, and a resident of Barangay Villahermoso, was about to tend his carabao on Thursday morning (September 29) when he saw its wounds in the head and legs.

Alconera’s son Nash said the carabao had difficulty standing and walking.

Nash also said they suspected that a “prankster” hacked the carabao with a bolo.

He said they reported the incident to the Carmen police to identify the person behind it.

Under the Philippines’ Animal Welfare Act of 1998 as amended by Republic Act No. 10631 provides that cruelty to animals carries a penalty of imprisonment for three years as well as fine of up to P250,000.
