MANILA, Philippines — Some 2,536 more people in the country have contracted COVID-19, according to data on the Department of Health’s (DOH) case tracker on Thursday.
It also showed that active coronavirus patients increased a little to 28,172 as of Thursday from 27,553 a day before.
The DOH COVID-19 tracker likewise indicated that nationwide confirmed cases stood at 3,945,566, including 3,854,478 recoveries and 62,916 fatalities.

Latest government information further noted that Quezon City is still the area with the highest number of new infections at 3,382. It was followed by Cavite with 1,791 and Manila with 1,743.
Meanwhile, 17,779 people were tested for SARS-CoV-2 – the virus that causes severe respiratory illness COVID-19 – on Wednesday. Positive results from these tests will be included in the government data on Friday, September 30.
The DOH earlier announced that Metro Manila is now classified as a moderate risk for COVID-19. It also said that in the region, Malabon, Valenzuela, Caloocan, and Navotas are currently deemed low-risk for the virus.
Likewise previously, the DOH said its projection indicates that the number of daily COVID-19 cases nationwide may range from 4,000 to 8,000 by the end of October, if loose compliance with minimum public health standards continues.
