MANILA, Philippines — The coronavirus hit 1,500 more on Wednesday based on the latest COVID-19 Department of Health (DOH) tracker, which also showed that active infections in the country dropped to 27,553.
The day before or on September 27, active COVID-19 cases were at 38,315, while new infections were at 1,555.
The latest data on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker likewise indicated that the country’s total confirmed coronavirus cases have reached 3,943,153 since the pandemic hit in 2020, including 3,852,718 recoveries and 62,882 deaths.
Further, the DOH’s recent counting disclosed that Metro Manila has 13,984 COVID-19 cases – still the region with the most number of infections. Calabarzon came next with 5,270 infections and then Central Luzon with 2,820.
Meanwhile, Quezon City remained at the top spot for areas with the most cases at 3,337. It trailed by Cavite with 1,802 cases and Manila with 1,790.
On Tuesday, September 27, 18,118 people were tested for COVID-19, and the results will appear in the government’s data on Thursday.
Last week or from September 19-25, the daily average COVID-19 infection was at 2,556, according to the DOH.
