MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) registered 1,555 new infections on Tuesday, slightly raising active infections to 38,315.

These new infections are lower than the 2,001 infections recorded on Monday, as well as the daily average infections recorded from September 19 to 25 at 2,556.

However, the relatively low number of tests (11,706) conducted on Sunday reflected this new daily tally. Tests conducted based on previous data released by the DOH were usually more than 15,000.

With this, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is now at 3,941,656 nationwide, with 3,840,492 recoveries and 62,849 deaths, based on the Department of Health’s online COVID-19 tracker.

The DOH tracker also showed that Metro Manila, with 13,839 cases, still leads with the most number of infections in the past two weeks by a large margin, followed by Calabarzon with only 5,211 infections and Central Luzon with only 2,791.

With 3,263 infections, Quezon City remains the worst affected location, followed by Cavite (1,799) and Manila (1,791).

Meanwhile, only 14,264 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Monday, September 27, which will reflect the tallied number of new infections on Wednesday.
