MANILA, Philippines — All seaports are now back to normal operations after the onslaught of Typhoon “Karding” (International name: Noru), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Tuesday.

PCG spokesman Commodore Armand Balilo said some ports in Bicol region, Southern Tagalog, Mindoro province, Batangas, and Metro Manila were affected by the tropical cyclone, causing some passengers to be stranded.

“Normal na ang mga pantalan natin. Lahat ng mga ports sa Bicol, sa Southern Tagalog kasama ‘yung Batangas, Mindoro, Metro Manila ay normal na ang operations,” he said in a public briefing.

Balilo said there was no reported maritime incident nor damaged vessels or missing fishermen due to Karding as the PCG was able to issue timely advisories on the situation.

“Wala tayong naiulat na any maritime incident nitong nakaraang bagyo sapagkat maaga pa, nag-advise tayo sa lahat ng sasakyang pandagat na magshelter at magtakda ng precautionary measures para maiwasan ang mga hindi pangkaraniwan na insidente so wala tayong aksidente, wala ring nareport na mga fishermen na nawawala,” he said.

(We have no reported maritime incidents because we were able to give out early warnings and precautions to all seafarers not to venture out to the sea to avoid any incidents.)

Typhoon Karding battered parts of Luzon on Monday, making landfall in Burdeos municipality on the Polillo islands, part of Quezon province.

Government work and classes were suspended on Monday, Sept. 25, and some flights were canceled.
