MMDA: Number coding suspended on Monday, Sept. 26

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the suspension of the implementation of the number coding scheme on Monday, September 26 after Metro Manila was whipped by super typhoon Karding.

The suspension was ordered by acting chairman Carlo Dimayuga III, the MMDA said.

 

Karding is now in the vicinity of Santa Cruz, Zambales, packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 170 kph, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Metro Manila is currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, according to Pagasa.
