Nueva Ecija governor says classes, gov’t work suspended due to Karding

PALAYAN CITY — The provincial government of Nueva Ecija has suspended classes on Monday, Sept. 26 in all levels in public and private schools, in anticipation of the effects of Super Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru).

Governor Aurelio Umali, in an advisory issued Sunday, Sept. 25, declared the suspension of classes, as well as the suspension of work in all government offices, except for those involved in relief and rescue operations.

“Meanwhile, private companies are given the prerogative to decide whether to suspend work in their respective establishments,” Umali said in an announcement. He also called on his constituents to be on alert.

Meanwhile, the water elevation of Pantabangan Dam was recorded at 193.01 meters above sea level, 27.99m below its spilling level of 221masl, according to the National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-UPRIIS).

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) said Karding has intensified further as it moved westward towards the north of Quezon province or south of Aurora.

The center of the eye of Super Typhoon Karding was estimated based on all available data, including those from Daet and Baler Doppler Weather Radars, at 175 km East of Infanta, Quezon.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5 is hoisted over Polillo Islands and the extreme northern portion of Quezon.

TCWS No. 4 is raised over Calaguas Islands, the southern portion of Aurora, the rest of General Nakar, the rest of Infanta and Real in Quezon, the southeastern portion of Nueva Ecija, the eastern and central portions of Bulacan, the northeastern portion of Rizal, and the extreme northern portion of Laguna.

TCWS No. 3 prevails over the central portion of Aurora, the southeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya, the rest of Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, the rest of Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Metro Manila, the rest of Rizal, the northern and central portions of Laguna, the northeastern portion of Cavite, the rest of the northern portion of Quezon, and the northern portion of Camarines Norte.

TCWS No. 2 is raised over the southern portion of Isabela, Quirino, the rest of Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, the rest of Aurora, the rest of Cavite, Batangas, the rest of Laguna, the central portions of Quezon, the rest of Camarines Norte, the northern portion of Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

TCWS No. 1 is raised in the southern portion of Cagayan, the rest of Isabela, the southern portion of Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, the southern portion of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, the rest of Quezon, the northern portion of Occidental Mindoro, including Lubang Islands, the northern portion of Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, the rest of Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Burias Island and Ticao Island.
