MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) Road Sector announced on Friday that they installed bus timers at 13 Edsa busway stations with assistance from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
“Ang pagkakabit ng mga bus timer ay naglalayon na mapadali at mas maisaayos ang sistema ng pagsakay at pagbaba ng mga pasahero sa EDSA Busway,” stated the DOTr Philippines in a Facebook post.
(The installation of bus timers aim to ease and organize the loading and unloading system of passengers at the EDSA Busway).
The bus timers were operational on Wednesday in the following stations:
- Monumento MCU
- New Neighborhoods
- Balintawak
- Muñoz
- North MRT Station
- Quezon Avenue MRT Station
- Q-Mart
- Main Ave
- Ortigas MRT
- Guadalupe MRT
- Buendia
- Taft Ave
- Roxas Blvd.
According to DOTr, each bus timer has three aspect signal lanterns with a two-digit timer, pole, and lighting. It also has a traffic signal local controller that includes detector cards and loop detectors.
Each bus unit that will pick up and drop off passengers at the aforementioned stations and will have a 30-second maximum duration limit. As soon as the following bus arrives, it will automatically reset, said the DOTr. –Kristelle Razon, Inquirer.net trainee
