TALISAY EVENT AT SRP

MOTORISTS were advised not to pass through the Talisay City area near the South Road Properties (SRP) due to the ongoing “Takas sa Talisay” event.

The activity opened last Friday with a horse show of the Provincial Capitol joined by contingents nationwide.

A triathlon  will be held today starting at the Talisay City Fish Port in barangay Tangke.

STREETS NAMED AFTER CONGRESSMAN

AN ordinance was passed designating the main streets of four barangays in Talisay City as Congressman Antonio Bacaltos Sr. Street last week.

The measure was initially opposed by Councilor Romeo Villarante. He said there was no public hearing called for it.   Vice Mayor Alan Bucao said they  consulted barangay captains of the affected areas.

Among the barangays covered were Lawaan I, Lawaan II, Mohon and Pooc. Antonio T. Bacaltos Sr. served as the vice mayor of then Talisay town before becoming a Constitutional Convention delegate representing Cebu’s 3rd district in 1971 to 1972. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus

COMPUTERS FOR  DENR

ABOUT P6 million worth of computer equipment was delivered to satellite offices of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Visayas (DENR-7).

DENR-7 Regional Executive Director Maximo O. Dichoso said this is part of their efforts to fully computerize  land information services such as land surveys, cadastral maps, public land applications, and titles.

He said the equipment was distributed to the provincial environment and natural resources officers (PENROs) and community environment and natural resources officers (CENROs) last March 23.
