DOH COVID-19 tracker: 2,708 new infections

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 2,708 new infections of COVID-19 were added to the country’s total COVID-19 caseload on Thursday, raising active cases to 28,030, said the Department of Health (DOH).

The latest cases placed the country’s total confirmed COVID-19 infections at 3,929,819 nationwide, with 3,939,094 recoveries and 62,695 deaths.

These new cases are higher than the recorded infections on Wednesday, which was only 1,886, and the average daily infections recorded from September 12 to 18 at 2,101.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila continues to have the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 12,475 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 4,388, then Central Luzon at 2,456.

On the other hand, Quezon City has the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 2,806, followed by Manila at 1,1775 and Cavite at 1,528.

In all, 19,337 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, reflecting the number of recorded infections on Friday, September 23.
