MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather will prevail throughout the country on Thursday, except in the Zambales and Bataan area in Luzon where overcast skies and rain are expected due to the southwest monsoon, said the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), however, said it is currently monitoring two weather disturbances, one of which is a low-pressure area (LPA) currently located within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) 1,200 kilometers east of Luzon.

While the other is a tropical depression outside PAR, 1,915 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, carrying wind speeds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 55 kph.

“Sa kasalukuyan wala tayong inaasahang magiging direktang epekto itong LPA at tropical depression sa ano mang bahagi ng ating bansa,” said Pagasa weather specialist Daniel Villamil.

(Currently, we do not expect this LPA and tropical depression to have a direct impact on any part of our country.)

Fair weather is forecast over most of Luzon on Thursday, with only chances of rain in the afternoon and evening.

“Ngunit dito sa Zambales at Bataan area asahan pa rin natin ang mas makulimlim na panahon dulot pa rin ng southwest monsoon o habagat,” he said.

(But here in the Zambales and Bataan area, we can still expect more cloudy weather caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat.)

Generally fair weather is likewise expected over Visayas and Mindanao, with chances of rain showers due to localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

No gale warning is being raised over the country’s surrounding coasts and inland seas, but moderate to rough seas are forecast over the seaboards of Northern Luzon.

Pagasa said the temperature range in key cities and areas across the country for Thursday is as follows:

  • Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 16 to 23 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City:  24 to 32 degrees Celsius
