MANILA, Philippines — New COVID-19 cases in Quezon City went down to 172 on Tuesday, but will likely rise again due to the increasing positivity rate nationwide, according to independent pandemic monitor OCTA Research.
Octa fellow Guido David sad on Wednesday that this figure is a notable dip from the 314 additional infections recorded in the city on Monday.
David further explained that the decrease in new cases recorded may be due to lesser COVID-19 testing, pointing out that the Tuesday figure reflects results of tests done on Sunday.
“But the positivity rate is still increasing, so we expect cases to continue rising. It is likely cases will continue to rise. We hope not,” he told INQUIRER.net in a message.
The weekly positivity rate in the country as of Saturday, September 17, was at 13.2 percent, higher than the 12.3 percent recorded in the previous week.
