MANILA, Philippines — Barangay Namayan in Mandaluyong City launched on Saturday 1Namayan mobile app, which streamlines public services to its residents, the first of its kind in the country.
Mayor Benjamin Abalos and Barangay Chair Victor Francisco spearheaded the creation of the app to make the delivery of public services faster, more accessible and more convenient.
The digitization of basic barangay services is a response to the changing times brought by the pandemic, Mayor Abalos said.
“The goal of developing a project such as this is because we have to embrace the new normal brought by this pandemic,” Abalos said. “Many people are using mobile phones now to conduct various transactions and it includes availing of government services.”
The 1Namayan app functions as a portal to report emergencies, request an ambulance and first aid, file complaints, report accidents, altercations, and street crimes.
The mobile app can be downloaded for free from the official website of the barangay www.1namayan.com.
