Manotoc elected prexy of national golf body
LEGENDARY sportsman Tommy Manotoc was tasked to lead the country’s golf program as he was voted as the president of the National Golf Association of the Philippines yesterday.
Upon receiving the news, Manotoc vowed to plan and implement a year-round golf program that will further hone the development of golf talents among clubs and all over the country.
“We will continue promoting golf development by putting up quality tournaments throughout the country,” said Manotoc in his press statement.
Manotoc heads the Canlubang Golf and Country Club golf program, under which the likes of Mhark Fernando, Jhonnel Ababa and Jerson Balasabas and rising stars Rupert Saragoza and Jobim Carlos have flourished.
Manotoc got 46 votes during the elections, the same votes garnered by Calatagan Golf Club’s Rod Feliciano, while Alabang Country Club’s Caloy Coscolluela Jr. drew 43 votes from 18 of the 27 member clubs during the NGAP’s council meeting and biennial elections at the Manila Yacht Club.
He takes over from former secretary and two-time NGAP president Leandro Mendoza.
