Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila was the first college in the country to have its official name in Filipino. Established on June 19, 1965 through Republic Act 4196, it officially opened on July 17, 1967 with an initial enrollment of 556 freshmen scholars. Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
