MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported the coronavirus infection of 1,574 more people in the country and that the prevailing active cases have reached 24,502.

Based on the latest numbers posted on its COVID-19 tracker, the Philippines’ confirmed coronavirus cases are now at 3,909,772, including 3,822,888 recoveries and 62,282 deaths.

Tuesday’s additional cases are lower than September 5-11’s average daily infections of 2,197 and September 12’s 2,038, the latest data indicated.

It also showed that Metro Manila still had the highest number of new infections per region in the last two weeks with 9,133, followed by Calabarzon with 3,711 and  Central Luzon with 2,304.

Quezon City has remained at the top of the list of areas with the most reported fresh cases in the last two weeks with 2,039, trailed by Manila with 1,299 and Cavite with 1,262.

A total of 18,779 people were tested for COVID-19 on Monday, according to the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker, and the results of their tests will be reflected on the agency’s COVID-19 report on Wednesday, September 14.
