LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — A magnitude 4.3 earthquake jolted Burgos town in Ilocos Norte province on Monday morning, according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
State seismologists recorded the earthquake at 6:50 a.m. and traced its epicenter some 35 kilometers northwest of Burgos town.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 6 km, according to Phivolcs.
Intensity IV was recorded in the areas of Pasuquin, Bacarra, Bangui, Pagudpud, Adams, Pinili and Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
Meanehile, the following Instrumental Intensities were recorded in the following areas:
Intensity IV – Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
Intensity II – Vigan City and Sinait, Ilocos Sur
Intensity I – Claveria, Cagayan
Phivolcs said the earthquake was not expected to cause damage or aftershock. INQ
