MANILA, Philippines — Two former officials of the Philippine Aerospace Development Corp. (PADC) were found guilty of graft for underselling aircraft parts that resulted in losses of over P6 million for the government.
In an 18-page decision penned by Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier, the Supreme Court’s Second Division affirmed the Sandiganbayan’s conviction of Danilo Reyes Crisologo and Roberto Loleng Manlavi for violation of Republic Act No. 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
Crisologo and Manlavi were sentenced to imprisonment of six years and one month to 10 years, with perpetual disqualification from holding public office.
The high court dismissed the appeal of Crisologo and Manlavi to reverse and set aside the Sandiganbayan’s Nov. 29, 2019, conviction.
The antigraft court found Crisologo and Manlavi guilty of unduly reducing aircraft parts prices, skipping public biddings, improperly hiring personnel, and doing away with proper receipts.
