MANILA, Philippines — The tropical storm outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) may enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat that will bring rains in most parts of the country in the coming days, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the tropical storm was last spotted 1,430 kilometers east of northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of 80 kph.

(Based on our forecast, it is expected to make a landfall in any area in the country. No direct effect when it enters the country, though. But in the coming days, we will be monitoring the possible chance of enhancing the southwest monsoon that may bring rain.)

Thursday weather

Meanwhile, the areas of Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and Davao region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience a fair weather condition with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Pagasa did not raise any gale warning on any seaboards in the country nationwide.
