DOH posts 1,750 new COVID infections; active cases down to 22,899

MANILA, Philippines — An additional 1,750 new infections of COVID-19 were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, with active cases slightly decreasing to 22,899.

The DOH’s COVID-19 tracker on its website raised the country’s total caseload to 3,896,541 nationwide, with 3,811,475 recoveries and 62,167 deaths.

These new cases are also significantly lower than the average number of daily infections recorded from August 29 to September 4 at 2,449 but is slightly higher than those logged on Tuesday at 1,326.

The tracker also showed that Metro Manila continued to record the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 9,082 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 4,254, then Central Luzon at 2,747.

On the other hand, Quezon City still has the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 2,193, followed by Cavite, which recorded 1,396, and Laguna at 1,149.

Meanwhile, the tracker showed that only 19,755 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday, reflecting the number of recorded infections on Thursday.
