MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila dropped to 12.1 percent on Sept. 3 from the previous week’s 12.9 percent, Dr. Guido David, an Octa Research fellow, said on Twitter on Tuesday.
Almost all provinces in Luzon had positivity rates that decreased. Cagayan dropped considerably from 29.7 to 19.6 percent in the same period, Camarines Sur from 46.7 to 33.5 percent, and Isabela from 30.1 percent to 19.6 percent.
Only Albay recorded an increase — from 21.2 percent to 32.2 percent.
“The rate in Bataan, Batangas, Pangasinan is currently less than 10 percent, while very high positivity rates are still observed in Albay, Camarines Sur, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac,” David said.

Most areas outside Luzon also recorded a decrease in positivity rates. Cebu dropped from 8.9 to 6.2 percent in the same period, Bohol from 22.7 percent to 18.5 percent, and Capiz from 20.4 percent to 11.4 percent.
Two provinces, however, showed an increase — Davao del Norte from 9.6 to 10.4 percent and Palawan from 23.7 to 30.8 percent.
“Cebu had the lowest positivity rate while the positivity rate remains very high in Palawan and Zamboanga del Sur,” David said.

The nationwide positivity rate now sits at 10.9 percent nationwide — slightly higher than the rate recorded on Monday at 9 percent, after the Department of Health recorded 1,326 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.
