MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather is expected in Monday in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio, however, said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will affect the Ilocos region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands and Bataan, where scattered rains and cloudy skies are expected.
“Sa kasalukuyan ang southwest monsoon ay nakakaapekto sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon kaya ngayong araw ay makakaasa pa rin tayo ng pag-ulan dulot nito,” he said in Pagasa’s daily weather bulletin.
(Currently, the southwest monsoon is affecting a large part of Luzon that’s why we are expecting rains.)
“Maganda at maaliwalas ang panahon ang inaasahan natin ngayong araw (Visayas, Mindanao)vMaaraw, bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap ng kalangitan pero may isolated rain na pag ulan dulot ng thunderstorm sa bandang hapon o gabi,” he said.
(The weather today in the Visayas and Mindanao is expected to be fair. It will be sunny, partly cloudy to cloudy skies, and with a chance of isolated rains in the afternoon or night.)
A gale warning was also raised over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to strong winds. Fishermen and mariners were advised against venturing out to sea since waves may swell up to 4.5 meters, Aurelio added.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila is expected to have fair, sunny weather, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a chance of rain due to thunderstorms.
