Leyte town launches Himorasak Festival

ORMOC CITY — The municipality of Matag-ob, Leyte on Saturday held the grand launching of the Himorasak Festival.

The activity started with a Mass held at the St. Anthony de Padua Parish followed by a parade led by local government officials and attended by different sectors of the municipality.

Mayor Bernardino “Bernie” Tacoy, in his message, said that the idea of coming up with Himorasak (a local term which means abundance) Festival started every time he visited the town to go to his farm.

While traversing the highway, he said he saw plenty of rice being dried on the road.

Aside from rice, the town is also abundant in coconut and different vegetable products.

The culmination of the festival will be held on Sept 25.

Tacoy said the prizes during the festival culmination showdown will be announced later, but the champion will receive a prize no lower than P50,000.
