Barangay kagawad, farmer slain in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – A barangay kagawad (councilman) and a farmer were shot and killed in separate shooting incidents in Quezon province on Saturday night.

The Catanauan, Quezon police on Sunday reported that Kagawad Ramil Advincula, 55, was tending the family store in Barangay (village) Ajos at around 6:30 p.m. when the assailant, posing as a buyer, repeatedly shot him with a handgun.  Advincula died on the spot.

The gunman and an accomplice sped off aboard a motorcycle after the incident.

In neighboring San Narciso town, farmer Jesie Aurellana, 48, was also shot dead in Barangay San Juan at around 8:30 p.m.

The suspect, Rodel Catipon, also a farmer from the village of San Vicente, fled on foot after the shooting and left the victim dead on the spot.

Another farmer, Jimmy RioFlorido, was hit by a stray bullet on his right thigh and taken to Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital.

Further investigations and pursuit operations against the gunmen in both cases are ongoing.
