“In the next 24 hours, the southwest monsoon (habagat)enhanced by this typhoon will also bring monsoon rains over the northern and western section of Northern Luzon and the western section of Northern and Central Luzon.” Pagasa said.

“Despite the lifting of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals, the enhanced southwest monsoon, its convergence with the typhoon circulation, and the channeling of winds within the Luzon Strait will continue bringing strong winds (strong breeze to near gale strength) with gusts reaching gale-force strength at times over Batanes and Babuyan Islands today,” Pagasa added.

A gale warning is in effect over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon.

Sunday weather outlook

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to the trough or extension of the typhoon , as well as the  “habagat” will prevail in Metro Manila, Ilocos region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro, according to the state weather bureau.

The Davao and Soccsksargen regions in Mindanao will have the same weather condition due to the intertropical convergence zone while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies and scattered rain showers due to the “habagat” and localized thunderstorms.
