3 mild quakes hit Philippines

MANILA, Philippines—Three mild quakes hit the Philippines Thursday, the Philippine  Institute of Volcanology and  Seismology said.

A 3.3 magnitude quake shook 14 kilometers southwest of San Jose in Dinagat Islands at 4:56 a.m. The tremor with a depth of 179 kilometers, was tectonic in origin and was felt in San  Jose,  Dinagat at Intensity III,  according  to  Phivolcs.

Meanwhile, at 5:10 a.m., a 2.7-magnitude quake hit 14 kilometers northwest of Bais, Negros Oriental. It was tectonic in origin  and had a depth of  33 kilometers. It was felt in Tayasan, Negros Oriental at Intensity II.

In Zambales, a 3.3 magnitude quake occurred at 5:51 a.m., 11 kilometers southwest of Cabangan town. The tectonic quake had a depth of 26 kilometers.

There were no reported damages caused by the mild quakes and no aftershocks were expected, Phivolcs said.
