DSWD eyes 80,000 educational aid beneficiaries on 3rd day of payout
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development is eyeing some 80,000 beneficiaries of its educational cash aid on the third day of distribution Saturday.
DSWD spokesperson Romel Lopez told reporters that the said total number of beneficiaries will be accommodated in the department’s 316 payout centers nationwide.
Lopez added that there are some 2 million applicants for the cash aid as of September 3, Saturday.
Walk-in transactions are still not allowed for indigent students who will apply to get the financial assistance.
The policy is meant to avoid drawing huge crowds like those that trooped to the DSWD central and regional offices on August 20, prompting the agency to seek the help of local government units in the distribution of the aid.
