Defense seeks Senate subpoena for De Lima

/ 03:12 PM March 22, 2012

MANILA, Philippines—Lead defense counsel Serafin Cuevas on Thursday said they asked the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, to issue another subpoena for Justice Secretary Leila de Lima.

Cuevas told reporters during an interview before the start of the trial that the defense wanted De Lima to testify on a subject that he declined to divulge to the media.

De Lima had testified before for the prosecution, accusing impeached Chief Justice Renato Corona of aiding former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in her supposed attempt to flee the country in November last year.
