1 soldier killed, another wounded in Nueva Ecija clash
GENERAL TINIO, Nueva Ecija – A soldier was killed while another was wounded during a firefight with members of the New People’s Army in Barangay Rio Chico here on Thursday, the military said.
Lt. Col. Enrico Gil Ileto, commanding officer of the 84th Infantry Battalion, identified the fatality as Private Jaylord Hipolito, while the wounded as Private First Class Francis Lictawa.
Ileto said Lictawa was airlifted to Fort Magsaysay Station Hospital, also in this province, for treatment.
According to the military, a number of casualties were reported among the rebels.
Ileto expressed “deepest condolences” to the family of the fallen soldier.
