Japanese man found dead in Makati City condo

MANILA, Philippines — A Japanese national was found dead on the sixth floor of a Makati City condominium before dawn on Thursday, police said.

In a report, the National Capital Region Police Office said that the body of Takaoka Shigeo was discovered surrounded by shattered glass panels during a maintenance check near the swimming pool area of the condominium.

The condominium’s maintenance personnel Jover Ramos and John Gabriel Atencio reported the scene to the security team, who later sought the assistance of the San Isidro Police Substation.

CCTV footage obtained during the initial investigation revealed that Shigeo “was seen roaming at the roof deck alone, thus [the theory] that the subject may have fallen from the rooftop.”

Police authorities said they would further investigate the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding Shigeo’s death.
