MANILA, Philippines — No COVID-19 infection among students and teachers and other academic staff members has so for been reported since the start of face-to-face classes, according to Department of Education (DepEdP) spokesperson Michael Poa.

“Sa ngayon po, after verifying with the field offices, wala pa po tayong reported na nagkaroon ng COVID-19 since  the start of the classes pati na rin sa teaching and non teaching staff,” said Poa during a press conference Thursday morning.

(Currently, and after verifying with the field offices, we have not had any reports of COVID-19 infection since the start of the classes among students, teachers and non-teaching staff.)

Poa said the DepEd  will continue monitoring schools for COVID-19 transmission.

Meanwhile, POA said DepEd is coordinating with the Department of Health (DOH) regarding the COVID-19 vaccination status of students.

The DOH has recently set up vaccination sites in some public schools to boost the vaccination rate among students amid the resumption of face-=to-face classes.

As of August 31, 2022, based on DOH’s COVID-19 tracker, the country currently has 24,181 active infections nationwide.
