Six teachers in Cavite under probe for sexual harassment, says DepEd

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) is investigating a public school in Cavite province over allegations that some of its teachers made sexual advances on high school students.
DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa on Tuesday said the agency’s Schools Divisions Office was already made aware of the abuse complaint and is currently investigating the matter.
“The allegations of sexual harassment in Bacoor National High School is very disturbing news and we are taking this very seriously,” he said in a statement.
“Said teachers were not given any teaching load pending initial investigation on the matter,” Poa added.
He said coordination between the School Divisions Office and the DepEd regional office will continue while the investigation is being conducted.

Poa was responding to a Twitter thread that went viral, showing alleged conversations between the teachers and the students, wherein the children were asked about their sexual experiences with gays and if they were willing to experiment with their teacher.
“We have zero-tolerance for any form of abuse in our schools,” he said.
