SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — At least 12,880 indigent students in Central Luzon received educational assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) during the two rounds of distribution in the region, government data showed Monday, Aug. 29.
According to the DSWD, the beneficiaries of the one-time cash aid in the region included 1,217 students in Aurora; 745 in Bataan; 2,561 in Bulacan; 2,534 in Nueva Ecija; 1,955 in Pampanga; 1,878 in Tarlac; and 1,990 in Zambales.
The payout, which began on Aug. 20, will continue every Saturday until Sept. 24, according to the DSWD.
Called Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), the financial aid is given to qualified students and the amount depends on their school level.
The DSWD said qualified elementary students will receive P1,000 while junior high school students will receive P2,000 each. Senior high school students will get P3,000 each, while college students or those taking vocational courses will get P4,000 each.
Only three students per family can receive the cash assistance, according to the agency. INQ
