DOH logs 2,573 COVID-19 infections; active cases now at 27,497

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday recorded 2,573 new infections of COVID-19, while active cases slightly decreased to 27,497.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday recorded 2,573 new infections of COVID-19, while active cases slightly decreased to 27,497.

With this, the country’s total caseload is now at 3,877,110 nationwide, with 3,787,893 recoveries and 61,720 deaths, based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker in its website.

These new cases are also lower than the average cases recorded from August 22 to August 28 at 2,752.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tracker continued to show that Metro Manila had the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 12,444 cases, followed by Calabarzon at 6,323, then by Central Luzon at 4,075.

On the other hand, Quezon City is still at the top of the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 2,956, followed by Cavite, which recorded 2,143 and Laguna at 1,625.

The tracker indicated that only 13,258 people had been tested for COVID-19 as of Sunday, reflecting the number of infections recorded on Tuesday.
