COVID-19 positivity rate in Zambales on downward trend

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The COVID-19 positivity percentage in this province continued to drop as the weekly rate went down to 17.7 percent, according to pandemic monitor Octa Research on Monday, August 29.

Department of Health data showed that the weekly positivity rate in Zambales decreased by a percent as of Aug. 27, from 18.7 percent on Aug. 20, Octa said.

From July 30 to Aug. 6, OCTA said the COVID-19 positive rate in Zambales was “very high” after it soared above 20 percent. It has gone down since then.

The positivity rate is the percentage of tests turning out positive.

As of Sunday, the number of COVID-19 cases stood at 47. It has remained below 50 cases since Aug. 25.

Since the pandemic struck in 2020, the province has recorded 12,256 infections with 11,500 recoveries and 709 deaths. INQ
