MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 positivity rate of Metro Manila has declined to 12.9% over the weekend, while nearly all provinces in Luzon likewise saw a decrease in their positivity rates, independent pandemic monitor OCTA Research Group said Monday.

OCTA fellow Guido David said Metro Manila’s positivity rate decreased to 12.9% on August 27 from 14.6% on August 20.

“NCR (National Capital Region) positivity rate decreased from 14.6% (Aug 20) to 12.9% (Aug 27). Nearly all provinces in Luzon had a decrease in positivity rate,” he said in a Twitter post.

David noted that Bataan’s positivity rate declined from 10.5% on August 20 to 8.8% on August 27, making it the sole province to have a positivity rate of less than 10%.

David added that while the positivity rates of Albay, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Isabela, La Union, Nueva Ecija and Tarlac declined, it remained “very high.”

“Bataan decreased to less than 10%. PR decreased but remained very high in Albay, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Isabela, La Union, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac,” David said.

On Sunday, David said the weekly average of COVID-19 cases nationwide decreased by 15% while the national positivity rate also declined.
