Three nat’l roads remain closed after ‘Florita’

Parts of two national roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region and another in Cagayan Valley remained closed to traffic on Friday due to flooding and soil collapse caused by Severe Tropical Storm Florita (international name: Ma-on) that hit northern Luzon this week.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Kennon Road in Baguio City remains closed for safety reasons and advised motorists going to the summer capital to take the Marcos Highway instead.

A clearing operation is also being conducted along Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road in Calanasan town in Apayao province due to road obstruction and soil collapse, DPWH said.

The Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge traversing Cabagan and Sta. Maria towns in Isabela is still impassable. The DPWH said to take the Daang Maharlika-Cagayan Valley Road instead. —KATHLEEN DE VILLA
