MANILA, Philippines – A lot of young kids have a bad case of the first day blues because they do not want to go to school, but not four-year-old Elisse Pagente who cries whenever she is told that she has to go home at the end of her classes.

The nursery student went viral after her mom Erica Yu posted about Elisse who wants to get gold stars and becomes upset whenever she has to go home from school.

Yu told the INQUIRER.net on Friday that there were no activities yet where her daughter could get a star as it was only orientation day.

“Okay naman po siya ngayon, pero panay tanong kailan ulit siya papasok sa school”, Yu said when asked how her child has been.

(She is alright now, but she keeps asking me when she will go back to school again).

Yu said her daughter has always been a keen learner. This was her first time to attend school, whether in-person or online.

“Never pa din po siya nakapag online class. Ako lang po nagtuturo sa kanya,” shared Yu.

(She has never been to an online class. I was the one who was teaching her).

The proud mom even shared a video of her as she teaches a then three-year-old Elisse how to read.

With her child’s eagerness to learn, Yu shared how she is proud of Elisse and the unexpected things she can do.

“There are things na nagagawa niya na hindi ko ineexpect na makakaya niya. So I learned from her”, she said.

She stressed the importance of letting children explore and discover what they are capable of.

“Dapat pala talaga hinahayaan silang lumipad, kasi hindi natin alam kung ano pa ang kaya nilang gawin kung lilimitahan natin sila dahil sa takot na baka mapahamak sila. Siguro kailangan lang talaga ng proper guidance and supervision,” she said.

(They should be allowed to discover what they are capable of and not limit them because of our fear that they may get hurt. They just need proper guidance and supervision).
