MANILA, Philippines – A Davao del Norte content creator said she is willing to face the consequences of her action after engaging in a popular TikTok challenge that was found to have violated traffic rules.
As she said in a Facebook post on Thursday, Norme Garcia is cooperating with the investigation being conducted by the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) and Land Transportation Office (LTO).
The challenge required her to take a bath while riding a motorcycle, making her liable for several violations — reckless driving under Republic Act No. 4136; driving without a helmet under RA No. 10054; and, distracted driving under RA No. 10913.
These violations have a penalty of fine or possible revocation of a driver’s license.
“I’m really willing to face any consequences about my actions kaya naki pag cooperate ako sa mga HPG and LTO,” she said.
Both the LTO and the HPG have been in touch with Garcia about the case.
Garcia said she would withhold a statement for now and would like to handle the matter privately.
“Alam ko maraming nag-aantay sa statement ko about the ligo challenge. Pero kasi I want to settle it privately muna as of now. Tatapusin ko muna lahat privately before mag post ng anything about it,” said Garcia.
(I know you are all waiting for my statement about the “ligo” challenge. But for now, I want to settle it privately. I will finish everything personally before posting anything about it).
Garcia has been made aware of the charges against her, according to a separate Facebook post from the LTO in Region XI, which has jurisdiction in the case.
“The influencer was informed of her violations and awaits administrative sanctions after the exhaustion of the legal process,” it stated.
