Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City drop to 39

OLONGAPO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city continued to drop, recording zero new infections on Thursday, local data showed.

Nine virus-infected residents recovered from the viral disease, bringing down the number of active COVID-19 cases to 39 from 48 the previous day.

Five of the 17 villages in the city have no active infections, according to the local task force. These were Asinan, East Tapinac, Kalaklan, New Ilalim, and Pag-asa.

Since the pandemic struck in 2020, the city had registered 7,341 COVID-19 cases. At least 6,896 of these were tagged as recoveries, while 356 were deaths.

As of Thursday, local healthcare workers were monitoring 23 suspected COVID019 cases. INQ
